Day 218
I genuinely believe that if I can learn the skills, and find the courage, to live life without the diversions I use to avoid honesty and anger, everything else can get easier. It still stuns me how much work it is to face conflict in the moment with truth and humility. And realizing how much “truth” is different from just “not telling lies” is remarkable.
Just as I get to feeling pretty good about not lying, I realize that the truth of the situation is still dangling and it takes effort to bring it into the conversation. This juggling of what’s real isn’t a plan or strategy, it’s apparently the life I’ve lived. If I can get past this habitual hell, living on the other side is going to be so much more rewarding, even if it’s in poverty and dramatically changed circumstances.
