Day 245
I share the belief that there is only one creator; the rest of us are just trying to find that which is already there. Whether it’s the sculptor searching for that which is hidden in the stone, or the painter allowing the colors to reflect that which is inside, or the addict trying to get out of the way so that God can show the world that which has been waiting for the light of goodness, none of us have to make something up out of nothing.
As Michelangelo, one of the greatest artists of all time, viewed his remarkable works, “The sculpture is already complete within the marble block before I start my work. It is already there; I just have to chisel away the superfluous material.”
We have neither the burden nor the glory of re-creating what God has done. We do have the opportunity to be humbly blest by serving and in helping to reveal what already exists. In a world where our ‘higher power’ is allowed to do what it already wants to do and to give us what He already wants to give us, we can be free.
