Day 499
God does not give us signs or mystical experiences to guide us; at least, that is what I learned growing up.
Whether I was taught that or just caught that presumption doesn't matter (I don't know), but that's what I thought for many years. Now, that strikes me as rather arrogant that I should put an all-powerful Higher Power into such a tiny box that limits how He can reach out to me.
I do not claim to know the true truth about such things, but I have become more open to possibilities and supernatural nudges. It is also my experience that when I respond to those quiet callings, the things that happen next are overwhelmingly positive and satisfying.
The problem is that I often do not want to do the things I suspect I'm being led to do, so I still tend to ignore all but the most obvious of 'signs' and must therefore admit a loss of opportunities.
I've never received any indication that I should hurt anyone or do anything that would not be considered kind or benevolent, so I'm pretty sure I need to listen and respond more often than I do. I want to do that, to be that guy.

So I got me a pen and a paper and I made up my own little sign
I said, "Thank you, Lord, for thinkin' 'bout me. I'm alive and doin' fine"
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
